The speech of old persons in the past might be affected by the loss of teeth.

Concerning the speech at the Brooklyn Jewish community center, it would seem it's from the venerable Brooklyn Jewish Center, the world's first pool with a shul, that hosted talks Einstein, had Rothko as the artist in residence for a year and today is the Oholei Torah yeshivah. If that's the case Dr. Israel Leventhal would actually be Rabbi Dr Israel Leventhal, who was the community 's leader.

In my 1966 Anaheim, California 1st grand class, I was sent to the school speech therapist for some number of weeks because I had what was called a “lazy R”, which seems to have been seen as a liability. It seems to me, to be that same r-lessness.

I would love to have the complete mp3 library of Prof. McWhorter's podcasts. I have his The Great Courses lectures and would love to have all of his lessons, or lectures, whatever you're calling them, so repeating a podcast is great for me!
